A Bournemouth fitness club is seeking permission for a larger gym and two padel courts.

The West Hants Club, in Roslin Road South, has submitted a planning application for single and two storey extensions, internal changes, a patio area, more cycle storage and extra staff parking.

The plans would create a new two storey gym and convert the current first floor gym into two studio class spaces, with an expanded spin studio and areas for strength, cardio and stretching.

Planning documents say the proposals were shaped by “changing member needs” and by feedback from recent member surveys, and add that they would “mark a significant investment in the future of the club”.

The proposed gym would increase the current fitness space by 70 per cent, and the club says the layout would provide more room for strength and resistance training, cardio and dedicated stretching.

Two extra doubles padel courts are proposed, which would take the club to five, with more outdoor space near the clubhouse for people watching matches and sitting with family or friends.

Tennis facilities would remain, with 17 courts retained, including four indoor courts and four covered by winter bubbles, while BCP Council considers the application until November 20 under reference P/26/04951/FUL.
