The seafront premises on West Beach Promenade, formerly West Beach Café, was marketed after the previous tenant, Sandy Feet Ltd, left the property, and BCP Council says its agents ran an open procurement process.
The tender drew 13 expressions of interest, and three operators were shortlisted for interviews and presentations before a cabinet report recommended talks with a preferred operator, whose identity has not been released for commercial reasons.
Councillor Richard Herrett said the process created “a fair and competitive opportunity” for operators, and that bids were scored objectively before a preferred operator is put to full council for ratification.
The council says the proposed operator offered the highest guaranteed and projected rent, strong financial backing, hospitality experience, a local presence and design plans which could improve the visitor offer on Bournemouth seafront.
Councillor Herrett said residents would be “keen to hear more” about the plans, and BCP Council’s cabinet is due to consider the proposal this Wednesday as the procurement process continues.
