Three play areas in Bournemouth and Poole are being refurbished with new inclusive equipment.
The work covers Kings Park in Bournemouth, Hatchards Field on Rossmore Road in Poole, and Mallard Road, where community campaigning helped secure improvements backed by Plan for Play and BCP Homes.
At Kings Park, Hags has designed a nature themed space with adventurous equipment and quieter inclusive areas. The new features include ramped access, a wide slide, a carousel, a wheelchair accessible roundabout, an inclusive see-saw, a zip-wire, swings and climbing equipment.
Hatchards Field has a space themed design by Jupiter Play, with climbing towers, slides, a fireman’s pole and a separate unit for toddlers. The site also includes an accessible roundabout, a sprint see-saw and swings for all abilities.
Mallard Road has a wildlife and bird theme, with interactive panels showing mallards, curlews and seagulls. Families will also be able to use a scavenger hunt, a springer, an inclusive see-saw, a multi-play unit, a carousel, swings and a climbing frame.
BCP Council says the schemes are part of its Plan for Play strategy, which aims to improve around 100 play areas across Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole.
Councillor Sandra Moore said the designs had been “directly influenced by local families” and reflected the character of each community.
