Three teams pulled a Boeing 737 across Bournemouth Airport over the bank holiday for Dorset Mind.
Working in groups of around 20, participants moved the 35,000kg aircraft over 50 metres during the Dorset Plane Pull, organised by the team at European Aviation and watched by hundreds of spectators throughout the day.
The charity’s teams were Boeing, Boeing, Gone! from Durable UK and Manutan, Action747 from ActionCOACH and Durnovaria Flight 26.1 from CrossFit Durnovaria, with all 3 successfully completing the challenge and the Durable and Manutan group also receiving the team name award.
Their efforts have raised more than £3,100 to help Dorset Mind continue supporting people across the county, with fundraising still open and participants hoping to increase the total over the coming weeks.
Reflecting on the experience, Grace Fredericks, from the Durable UK and Manutan team, said: “Pulling a plane certainly put our teamwork and strength to the test”, with colleagues, friends and families there to cheer them on.
Dorset Mind’s Community and Events Fundraising Manager Emma Murgatroyd thanked the organisers, volunteers and supporters, saying “every member of our three teams should be incredibly proud of what they achieved” after completing the aircraft pull.
