Swanage Folk Festival returns from 11 to 13 September, with dance sides, seafront events, family activities, a fringe programme and ticketed evening concerts across the town. Swanage Folk Festival will bring music, dance and family activities back to the town in September.
The event runs from Friday 11 to Sunday 13 September, with performances planned across Swanage and along the seafront, where more than 65 dance sides and over 650 dancers are due to appear during Saturday and Sunday.
Visitors will see the Saturday afternoon procession and the traditional Sunday afternoon dance in the sea, while the Main Stage will host 5 hours of live music on both weekend days.
A craft fair, food stalls, beer tent, children’s entertainment and an activity pack with an expanded Gnome Hunt are planned, while the fringe will bring more music to venues around town.
Festival chair Jon Baker said people did not always need a ticket to enjoy the weekend, adding: “Swanage becomes part of the festival for the weekend”, whether visitors follow folk music or are just passing through town.
Ticketed evening concerts are also scheduled, featuring The Longest Johns, Merry Hell and Gerry Colvin Band, and organisers say the not for profit event is run by unpaid volunteers, with any surplus returned to local good causes.
