The venue, which is on the upper floor, has been refurbished with one side set aside for studying and the other for socialising, where students will find retro games, pool tables, table football, a film area and WiFi.
Students can sign up for an annual pass at thestudenthub.uk or through QR codes distributed during the launch, as the area opens for the new academic year, and the membership area will also carry training information for members.
Owner James Gordon, who came up with the idea, said: “Student life should be about much more than just going to university,” adding that he wants it to be “a real community” for students.
The hub will work closely with Bournemouth University and Arts University Bournemouth to look at how it can support education and training courses for students using the space in the town centre.
