The Stourvale in Christchurch is closing ahead of a refurbishment focused on live sport.

The pub is due to reopen on 11 November as a Grandstand sports pub, with new screens, an upgraded sound system and flexible tiered seating. Its beer garden will also be updated with TV screens, while customers will be able to use the Marston’s Order and Pay app.

Local sports memorabilia will be added inside, and residents are being asked to share photographs or items which mark the achievements of teams and players from the area. Marston’s Operations Manager Mark McGrath said locals are “sporting mad” and staff “can’t wait” to welcome people back.

When it reopens, the pub will show fixtures including football, rugby, cricket, tennis, Formula One, darts and horse racing. Regulation dartboards and pool tables will return, with new competition leagues and free to play sessions also planned.

The food and drinks offer is also being refreshed, with bar food for half time and larger groups. Local sports teams will be able to apply for a Black Card, which gives access to team offers and rewards for celebrating wins at the pub.
