The attraction shut on Sunday, 27 September, after warm September weather and reliable operation allowed Christchurch Town Council to extend its planned season by 14 days.
It had reopened on 15 July after essential repairs, resurfacing work and specialist equipment replacements delayed the early summer start. The council said it then ran every day until the end of the season, with no closures, breakdowns or maintenance interruptions.
Families used the site during the final week of the extension. One parent said it was “nice and quiet” after children had returned to school, while another said: “We’re so lucky with the weather as well.”
A reopening day video with Town Mayor Maggie Fidler changing the sign from “NOPE” to “OPEN” drew more than 100,000 views in its first 12 hours.
Councillor Fidler said the delayed opening had been “disappointing for many families”, but safety was the priority. She said the council was pleased the park stayed open without interruption and added: “We look forward to welcoming families back to Christchurch Quay Splash Park in 2027.”
