Several services based at Bournemouth’s Civic Annex could be moved under plans going before councillors.

BCP Council is considering disposing of the annex, which has already been identified under an agreement with Bournemouth Development Company, and moving teams into other parts of the Civic Centre and town hall.

The changes would affect the coroner’s service, elections, events and parking enforcement, while customer and housing services would also be reorganised with a reduced ground floor presence if the proposal is approved.

The preferred option would move the coroner’s jury court to the council chamber and adjoining west wing, with elections staff moving to the ground floor and meeting rooms on the second and third floors.

Parking enforcement would relocate to the civic basement, and the events team would move into the Civic Centre, although the council has not yet named an exact location for that team.

Councillors are due to discuss the proposal at a full council meeting on 13 October, with borrowing expected to be repaid from the eventual sale of the site if it proceeds.
