A three year plan for SEND services across Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole will be debated by councillors.
BCP Council submitted the Local SEND Reform Plan to government on 19 June, and a decision is expected from the Secretary of State for Education this month while the national assessment process continues.
The plan covers 3 years, and it has been shaped with children, young people, parents, carers, schools and practitioners, and it focuses on improving outcomes for children and young people with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities.
Councillor Richard Burton said families and practitioners had helped shape the plan from the start, and he said people wanted a system where children feel “accepted, supported and able to flourish”.
The council says it will continue working with families and partners as the programme progresses, and the plan will be considered by the Children’s Overview and Scrutiny Committee on 14 September.
The plan also follows a recent Ofsted and Care Quality Commission inspection, which recognised that BCP had made progress since 2021, and it sets out further work to strengthen inclusion for children and young people.
