Ponders End Investments PLC has applied to add an extra storey to the Old Christchurch Road building, where the new homes would include two flats with one bedroom and two flats with two bedrooms.
Planning documents say residential use is already established at the site after prior approval was granted to convert the upper floors into 15 flats, and the latest proposal would use the “airspace” above the building to provide additional homes.
The application says the scheme would help address Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole Council’s “housing shortage”, with no car parking proposed and secure cycle parking included inside the building for residents who move in.
The town centre site is described as having access to nearby shops, services, public transport, local jobs and leisure facilities, and the consultation on the planning application is open until the second of October.
