Also coming up, Dorset Way in Poole faces a daytime closure from Holes Bay Roundabout to Mannings Heath Roundabout on Friday 5 and Saturday 6 September. The work is being done in phases between 7am and 7pm for resurfacing, so expect heavy knock-on delays around Holes Bay and the surrounding routes during the day.
In Poole, Towngate Bridge is down to one lane near The George roundabout while SGN work in the area, and that continues until 11 September. Serpentine Road is closed for its entire length eastbound behind the old Barclays building until 25 September, and Randalls Hill at Lytchett Minster is shut from Huntick Road to Blandford Road North for Wessex Water until 4 September.In Bournemouth town centre, Gervis Place is closed long term, running through to the end of February. It is affecting bus routes and stops in the town centre, so bus users should check their stop before travelling. Derby Road has temporary lights between Frances Road and Knyveton Road for SGN gas work until 18 September, and Seamoor Road in Westbourne is restricted as part of the BCP Council maintenance programme until 1 October.
Hendford Road is closed at the junction with Columbia Road for electrical work until 7 September, and Windham Road in Springbourne is shut at the junction with Cleveland Road while Wessex Water repair a burst pipe.
There is a cluster of works around Branksome to watch for. Bury Road is closed between Canford Cliffs Road and Western Road for SGN, and Western Avenue is closed around its junction with Bury Road for the same work. King John Avenue has temporary lights at the junction of Barons Road for ongoing gas work. All three run until early September, so it is worth allowing extra time if you use those roads regularly.
In Wimborne, Stone Lane is closed between Knobcrook Road and the junction of West Borough for highway improvements, with temporary lights also in place and a locally signed diversion around the closed section.
In East Dorset, Verwood Road at Three Legged Cross remains one of the slowest spots. Multi-way temporary lights are causing long delays at peak times along Ringwood Road, Horton Road and Holt Road while SGN carry on with gas work, and that scheme runs until 7 September. A second set of temporary lights on Verwood Road starts on 1 September for further gas work and stays in place until 5 November, so the area is likely to be busy for some time.
Nearby, Cranborne Road is restricted under temporary lights near Honeybrook Farm, just north of Wimborne, for emergency work to Stanbridge House, which was badly damaged by a speeding car. That one lasts until 16 October.Several schemes finish soon. Bury Road, Western Avenue, King John Avenue, Stone Lane, Randalls Hill and Windham Road are all due to be completed by 4 September, with Hendford Road and Verwood Road at Three Legged Cross following on 7 September.
