An electric motorbike rider has been jailed after seriously injuring a young boy in Christchurch.
The collision happened at around half past seven on Tuesday 10 June 2025, when 18 year old Callean Sebastien Wyburn, of Bournemouth, rode an unregistered Talaria electric motorcycle through a red light on Fairmile Road.
Police said the bike went into the path of the child, who was using a pedestrian crossing, and he was taken to hospital with serious facial and dental injuries after the collision.
Wyburn stopped for a couple of minutes before riding away along the pavement, but he went to Bournemouth police station the following day and identified himself as the rider involved.
He pleaded guilty to causing serious injury by dangerous driving, driving without a licence and driving without insurance, and he was sentenced today to 18 months in prison at Bournemouth Crown Court.
Police Constable Clare Gillard, of the Roads Policing Team, said the boy had been left with "a permanent scar on his face" and needed continuing dental treatment following the collision.
