Bournemouth University is asking for retrospective permission for the Studland House and Bournemouth Gateway Building car parks, where "dual use" by the university and public has been in place since November 2019 and May 2021.
The proposal would allow public parking to continue during evenings, overnight and at weekends, while also approving "ancillary payment equipment" that has already been installed at the two Bournemouth sites.
Studland House has 143 spaces, including 6 for disabled users, 9 motorcycle spaces and 78 cycle spaces, while the Bournemouth Gateway Building has 103 spaces, 7 disabled spaces, 4 motorcycle bays and 110 cycle spaces.
The Gateway site also includes an ambulance bay, and the university says public take up has been limited so far, with "low public usage" averaging about 20 vehicles per day.
The university wants the arrangement to run for another 5 years, saying it could raise revenue and support its travel plans, with consultation on the application open until September 5.
