Police investigating an incident at a Portland cash machine say a man in his 40s was assaulted, with a Poole man among two people arrested. Dorset Police received a report at around 7.30pm on Saturday 12 September 2026 after a man in his 40s was assaulted from behind at the Osprey Quay Service Station on Mereside. The victim sustained bruising after the reported assault, but he did not need immediate medical treatment. Officers say enquiries have led to two arrests, including a 37-year-old man from Poole.

The victim sustained bruising after the reported assault, but he did not need immediate medical treatment. Officers say enquiries have led to two arrests, including a 37-year-old man from Poole.
The Poole man was arrested on suspicion of robbery and has been released on police bail while the investigation continues. A 19-year-old woman from Dorchester was also arrested on suspicion of robbery and has been released under investigation.
Police Constable Anya Parvin, of Dorset County CID, said officers were still trying to trace people who may have seen what happened. She said: “We are continuing to carry out enquiries into this matter.”
She added: “I would urge any witnesses who have not spoken to police, or anyone with information that might assist our enquiries, to please get in touch.” Information can be given to Dorset Police or anonymously to Crimestoppers.
