Skills and Learning Adult Community Education held its first multi-business training event at Poole Adult Learning Centre, which is based in the Dolphin Centre, on Thursday 29 October 2026.
The session brought together 24 people from three organisations. Staff attended from YMCA, STARS Dorset and Marsham Court Hotel in Bournemouth.
The course, called Introduction to AI with Microsoft Outlook, was designed for businesses that want to begin exploring AI. It also introduced wider training options that are available through Skills and Learning.
Senior representatives at the event included Dr Gareth Sherwood and Martin Stockley from YMCA, Helen Stevens from STARS Dorset, and Rosie Radwell and James Dixon-Box from Marsham Court Hotel.
Richard Walker, Business Engagement Officer at Skills and Learning, said the aim was to give local businesses access to “affordable, flexible training” for a more digital workplace.
He said courses can include accredited and non-accredited options, and can be delivered at business premises. He added: “We provide the tutors, equipment and software.”
Skills and Learning says its business courses can be shaped around the needs of individual employers, including digital skills, staff development and the growing use of AI.
