The Poole Town Council seat became vacant after Daniel Bleeze stepped down just weeks after being elected, with the poll now scheduled for Thursday, September 24, 2026, and administered by BCP Council.

BCP Council said the contest was triggered by a resignation, adding that “Elections are a vital part of democracy” and must be delivered fairly and securely under legal rules for voters.

The council said its role is to govern the vote because Poole Town Council cannot legally run it, and the final bill will be recovered from the town council, affecting only Poole residents.

Nomination papers are available from BCP Council and must be delivered by appointment to the returning officer at the Civic Centre Annexe in Bournemouth by 4pm on Thursday, August 27, 2026.

People not yet registered to vote must do so by 11.59pm on Tuesday, September 8, while postal vote applications close the following day, and proxy and voter authority certificate requests close on September 16.
