A burglar has been jailed after fingerprints linked him to a burglary at a Poole home.
Oakley Coyle, aged 23 and from Bournemouth, entered the address in Longfleet Road in the early hours of Sunday 16 February 2025 while the occupants were asleep, stealing a PlayStation 5, accessories and 2 kitchen knives.
When they woke the following morning they realised a burglary had taken place, and Dorset Police later carried out scene examination work that found fingerprints on the kitchen door matching Coyle.
The stolen PS5 was later found at an address in Poole and returned to the victim, with Police Constable Ted Carlton saying enquiries helped officers “recover the stolen console” for the victim.
Coyle pleaded guilty to dwelling burglary and was sentenced to 27 months in prison at Bournemouth Crown Court on Friday 14 August 2026, after being arrested and charged in connection with the incident.
Police Constable Carlton said “everyone deserves to feel safe in their own home”, adding that Dorset Police recognises the impact burglaries have on victims and is committed to holding offenders accountable.
