A Poole man has been jailed after a victim reported years of abuse to police.
Adam Edward Eric Curtis, 39, was sentenced to seven and a half years at Winchester Crown Court after being found guilty at trial of controlling and coercive behaviour, sexual assault by penetration and assault occasioning actual bodily harm.
Dorset Police said the victim described 11 years of abuse, including threats to damage personal items, her mobile phone being taken so she could not call police, and being locked inside her address.
The court heard he was also physically violent and sexually assaulted her, and the evidence gathered by detectives led to guilty verdicts on all three charges after she supported the trial.
Detective Constable Jack Gibson, of BCP CID, said he did not underestimate the "strength it would have taken" for her to report what happened and support the court process after many years of abuse.
Curtis, who is from Poole, was also placed on the sex offenders register for life. Detective Constable Gibson said police would "support victims" and work to bring offenders to justice.
