A new college building will welcome its first Bournemouth students on 2 September.
The 4 storey Compass Building at Bournemouth and Poole College has space for up to 1,000 students across business, hospitality, computing, media, sport, travel, hair and beauty courses.
New facilities include IT suites, a green screen studio and a travel training centre containing part of a passenger aircraft, its cabin and a working departure lounge.
Students will also gain practical experience in the public facing Escoffier restaurant and Horizon Hair and Beauty salons, while other facilities include a sports hall, gym, climbing wall and 160 seat social and events space.
The development included restoring original college buildings dating from 1910, including the 150ft clock tower, where specialists repaired weather damage and recreated detailed stonework using Purbeck stone.
Principal Phil Sayles said the project was about “providing opportunities” and giving local people access to the skills and experiences they need, with teaching spaces designed to reflect the workplaces students are preparing to enter.
