A climate change film screening is taking place at Bournemouth Pavilion on Tuesday 20 October.

Residents from Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole are being invited to watch the People’s Emergency Briefing, a film in which UK experts explain how climate change and nature loss are affecting communities and what action can be taken.

The event is being hosted by BCP Council with Dorset Wildlife Trust, Dorset Chamber, Lush and Transition Town Poole, bringing together residents, businesses, community groups and environmental organisations to look at evidence on climate change and nature recovery.

The screening will be followed by a panel of local representatives, who will discuss the issues raised in the film and answer questions from the audience. Organisers say the event is open to people aged 16 and over.

Councillor Andy Hadley, BCP Council’s Cabinet Member for Climate Response, Environment and Energy, said it was important that residents could “hear directly from a range of voices” and take part in “an open discussion”.

He said the event would help people understand changes taking place locally and globally, while Ruth Andrade, Environmental Partner at Lush, said people could “come together to understand the issues” affecting communities, the economy and the environment.
