A new neighbourhood health centre has officially opened on Alma Road in Winton.
The Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole Council owned building, previously Winton Health Centre, has been brought back into healthcare use by Banks and Bearwood Medical Practice, Dorset HealthCare and NHS Dorset.
It will house Banks and Bearwood GP practice alongside community services including children's speech and language therapy, podiatry, leg ulcer clinics, community oncology, heart failure clinics, nursing, health visiting and NHS talking therapies.
The site had been unused since its closure in July 2023, but carries a covenant requiring it to be used for healthcare purposes and now includes on site parking alongside transport.
Dr Yasser Kerim said the opening was "a proud moment", adding that patients would be able to access care more easily from a centre in Winton designed for local services.
A Dorset HealthCare representative said local people would benefit from having many services together, while Councillor David Brown welcomed the building's use for residents' health and wellbeing in the community.
The first patients are due to be seen by the GP practice from 1 September at the Alma Road site, with community health services expected to begin there shortly afterwards.
