A new controlled crossing is planned for a busy road in Christchurch to aid safer travel.
BCP Council is set to install a toucan crossing on the A337 Highcliffe Road, north west of Hoburne roundabout, so pedestrians and cyclists can use the same light controlled crossing point.
A toucan crossing is designed for both groups, which means people on foot and people on bikes can cross the road together when the signals stop traffic at the crossing.
The council says the crossing point at this junction will give residents “safer access” and support people who are walking or cycling along this part of Christchurch near the Hoburne roundabout.
Residents who want to comment on the plan can make representations through the council’s highway consultation page, or send written comments to the Traffic Team in Bournemouth by post instead.
Written comments should quote reference C105 and give the grounds of any objection, with submissions due to reach the Traffic Team at BCP Civic Centre by Friday, the ninth of October.
The council has also previously consulted on plans for a zebra crossing on Ringwood Road outside number 123, with that consultation running from August 28 to September 18 earlier this year.
