The incident was reported at around 5pm on Friday 24 July 2026 on Madeira Road, next to the underpass leading to Dean Park Road, where police said the man was apparently performing an indecent act in a bush.
Officers believe he then walked towards the town centre area, and images of a man have been issued as part of the investigation into a report of outraging public decency.
Police Constable Oliver Gorman, of Bournemouth police, said he would like to speak to anyone who recognises the man, adding: "I would ask anyone who recognises him to please get in touch."
He also wants to hear from anyone with information about the incident who has not already spoken to officers, while Dorset Police can be contacted online or by calling 101 and quoting occurrence number 55260113269.
