Dorset Police said the crash was reported at 6.16pm on Sunday 27 September 2026 on the B3082 between Pamphill Dairy and Kingston Lacy, after the force received the call and emergency services attended.
The vehicles involved were a white Vauxhall Vivaro van, a blue Skoda Fabia, a grey Audi Q5 and a blue Mazda 3, and road closures were later put in place.
The injured man was travelling as a passenger in the van, and he was taken to hospital for treatment to injuries that were believed to be serious, and his family has been informed.
Sergeant Dave Cotterill, of the Roads Policing Team, said officers were “carrying out an investigation” and wanted to speak to witnesses, including occupants of a vehicle that stopped before police arrived.
He asked drivers who were nearby to check dashcam footage that could “assist our enquiries”, and said information can be sent to Dorset Police online or through Crimestoppers anonymously.
