A 37-year-old man is due in court this Monday after a collision in Christchurch last December.

Dorset Police said the case relates to a road traffic collision in Somerford Road at 8.43am on Wednesday 3 December 2025, which involved a bus and a pedestrian who was seriously injured, according to the force’s latest update.

The pedestrian was 73-year-old Richard Parker from Christchurch, who was taken to hospital after the collision and died on the morning of Saturday 6 December 2025 because of his injuries.

A man from Hertfordshire was arrested in connection with the incident, and following detailed enquiries by the Serious Collision Investigation Team he has been issued with a postal requisition to appear at Southampton Magistrates’ Court this Monday.

Police said the appearance concerns an alleged offence of ‘causing death by careless or inconsiderate driving’, while the update marks the next stage in the investigation into the Somerford Road collision, which began after the December incident.
