Councillor Andy Hadley, who holds the parks portfolio at BCP Council, said the site was a “perfect example” of the programme and added that the council had listened to residents during consultation last summer.
He said residents had shared their “passion for the site”, which helped secure additional funding, and added that he was pleased work would soon get under way at Mallard Road.
The wider Plan for Play was approved by councillors in December 2024 and includes improvements to around 100 play areas, with recent refurbishments at Queen’s Park, Treasure Island and Bourne Valley.
