The refurbished space will add new swings, slides, climbing equipment and a zip wire, with the layout shaped by ideas shared in last summer’s consultation and a focus on adventurous play.
A large multi play unit with ramped access will sit at the centre, with quieter sections, a wide slide, carousel, wheelchair accessible roundabout and inclusive see saw included for different ages and needs.
Work is expected to take around 7 weeks, after procurement and design work linked to BCP Council’s wider Plan for Play strategy, which is improving play areas across the area.
Councillor Andy Hadley said Kings Park had been a priority site and community feedback was central, adding that he “cannot wait” to see the refurbishment take shape once work begins in September.
Councillor Sandra Moore said the programme showed the council working with community groups, and said improved play spaces would help children “be active, build confidence” locally as the latest upgrades are delivered.
