If enough requests are received, an election will be arranged so people in the parish can choose a new representative for the council, which serves an area of around 200 households.
Hurn includes farmland, woodland and heathland, and Bournemouth Airport and its industrial park provide a major source of local employment for the largely rural parish near Bournemouth within the BCP area.
If fewer than 10 electors make the request, no election will be held, and the vacancy will be filled through a process in which existing parish councillors appoint a new member to serve on the authority.
Written requests should be sent before the deadline to the Returning Officer at the Civic Centre, Bourne Avenue, Bournemouth, Dorset, BH2 6DY, so they can be counted under the election rules.
