A licensing panel will consider plans for a floating restaurant at Christchurch Quay after five objections raised concerns about safety, nuisance and children’s protection under licensing rules. A new plan could bring a new floating restaurant to Christchurch Quay if councillors approve it.
Christchurch Harbour Kitchen Limited has submitted the application to BCP Council, which will consider whether a licence should be granted for a vessel described as a “floating restaurant” that would include its own kitchen and dining area.
The proposed premises would be moored each day at the same place on Christchurch Quay, and the licence would allow alcohol to be supplied for use on the vessel and away from it.
Five objections have been lodged with the council, raising concerns that the proposal could affect “crime and disorder”, public safety, public nuisance and the protection of children from harm licensing objectives.
The company previously sought a licence at Mudeford Beach in 2025, but the council refused that application after councillors raised concerns about nuisance, safety and safeguarding children under the licensing rules.
The fresh application is due to be discussed by a licensing panel on September 15, when members will decide how to respond to the plans and the objections already received.
