Firework displays are due to return at Poole Quay and Bournemouth Beach this week.

BCP Council says the Poole Quay display planned for Thursday, September 3, and the Bournemouth Beach display on Friday, September 4, are expected to go ahead after earlier cancellations linked to weather and wildfire risk.

Last week’s Bournemouth Friday night beach display was called off because conditions meant fireworks could not be launched safely from the barge, while another cancellation followed a Government emergency alert about wildfire risk.

Councillor Richard Herrett, BCP Council cabinet member for destination, leisure and commercial operations, said the displays will “return this week”, adding that “residents and visitors” would have another chance to see them and referred to Poole’s event as an additional display before Bournemouth’s Friday finale.

The council said it will keep checking the forecast and share “timely updates” if anything changes before either event, with weather remaining the factor being monitored ahead of the displays.
