The BCP LIFE card was launched this summer to give residents discounts at attractions, cafés and businesses across Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole, and Michal Kulis used it with his family to see how useful it was on outings.
Their first stop was Poole Park, where The Ark café did not accept the card, and staff at Bournemouth Pier later said the zip wire already had an offer which was open to everyone.
Further attempts at Rockwater Café at Branksome Chine and the Big Wheel in Bournemouth Gardens also brought no discount, before a park café asked for the card and gave the family a small saving.
Michal said the experience had become a family joke, but he remains positive about the scheme as a local resident and father, saying: “I signed up because I liked the idea behind the scheme.”
He added that the BCP LIFE card is “a good idea” and said he was pleased the council had introduced support for ordinary families, with savings likely to become more noticeable “as more businesses join the scheme”.
