The family of serving Dorset Police officer PC Alex Ayre have shared a tribute after he died at Branksome train station last week.
PC Ayre, who was 24, has been remembered by his family after his death, with relatives describing the gap left in their lives and the many roles he held for those around him.
They said: "Losing you has left a space in our lives that can never be filled", and described him as a son, grandson, brother, nephew, cousin and friend to many people across his life.
The tribute said PC Ayre made people feel "welcome, accepted and included", and was someone others could turn to when they needed support or a moment of laughter in difficult times.
His family said there were many memories, including childhood moments, work stories and nights out, which would now mean more than ever to those who knew him and worked with him.
They added: "24 years will never feel like enough", but said those years had been filled with love, laughter and friendship, and that Alex would be remembered throughout their lives.
An investigation into Alex’s death is being led by British Transport Police, who have confirmed his death is not being treated as suspicious. An inquest will be opened in due course by HM Coroner.
