More than 100 Dorset young carers will meet employers at Bournemouth University next month.

The MYTIME Young Carers Employability Summit will be held in the Fusion Building on Wednesday 4 November, with more than 10 Dorset schools represented and 28 organisations already supporting the event.

Kite Clothing in Poole, AFC Bournemouth Community Sports Trust, Dorset County Hospital NHS Foundation Trust, Arts University Bournemouth and HG Walker Solicitors are among those involved, alongside partners Bournemouth University and Dorset Chamber.

Young carers aged 14 to 25 will join workshops on skills, confidence, career routes and workplace knowledge, while employers learn about barriers and practical adjustments that can make opportunities easier to access.

Krista Cartlidge, Chief Executive of MYTIME Young Carers, said the summit is about changing that and helping businesses turn conversations into “meaningful opportunities” for young people in Dorset who have caring responsibilities.

Caroline Sharp, Head of Marketing and Communications at Dorset Chamber, said young carers bring “valuable skills, commitment and maturity”, as MYTIME invited more employers and education providers to register interest.
