Roadworks will take place on Dorset Way in Poole for almost 3 weeks in September.

BCP Council says essential maintenance will be carried out on the A3049 between Holes Bay North Roundabout and Mannings Heath Roundabout from 5 September to 21 September, covering a busy route through Poole.

The programme includes surface dressing, sweeping to remove loose chippings, sealing, replacement road markings and new road studs, with a temporary 20mph speed limit while the new surface settles and markings are reinstated.

Surface dressing is due from 5 September to 6 September, with road closures in place, followed by overnight sweeping from 7 September to 10 September and sealing works from 12 September to 13 September.

An overnight closure is planned from 15 September to 21 September for replacement markings and studs, while the diversion will use Holes Bay Road, Broadstone Way, Cabot Lane, Gravel Hill, Magna Road, Ringwood Road and Canford Way.

Councillor Andy Hadley, portfolio holder responsible for highways maintenance, said the scheme would cause “some temporary disruption” but would help prevent potholes, adding that the council thanked motorists for their “patience”.
