Round 4 of the Household Support Fund is reopening for applications, with Citizens Advice allocating vouchers on behalf of Dorset Council to residents who meet the eligibility criteria this winter.
Households can apply if their annual net income is less than £30,000, savings are under £16,000, and they have not received a Household Support Fund payment within the last 6 months.
Dorset Council says calculations for annual net income should leave out Personal Independence Payments, Disability Living Allowance, Attendance Allowance, Carers Allowance and Child Benefit, and applications are limited to 1 per household.
Councillor Laura Beddow, portfolio holder for culture, communities and customer services, said the scheme offers “supermarket vouchers to help with essentials” and urged residents to check when they last applied beforehand.
She said there are “a very limited number of applications available” for the December window, but another application round is due to open on 3 January for those who miss out.
Residents are being asked to apply online, with help available from Dorset Council customer services or at a customer access point if they need support completing the online form correctly.
