A Bournemouth dancer is offering extra lessons to raise money for Forest Holme Hospice this winter.
Each week before the Strictly Extravaganza on 23 January 2027, Oliver Beardmore will add a 45 minute lesson to his teaching schedule and accept no payment for his time.
Instead, students can donate whatever they believe the lesson was worth directly to Forest Holme Hospice through his JustGiving page, helping him fundraise without repeatedly asking the same friends, relatives and students for contributions.
Oliver is also planning dance challenges during the build up, including an attempt to perform Charleston swivels continuously for an hour, as he looks for active ways to encourage local involvement.
He said the idea was to raise money by “actually doing something in return”, while supporting an organisation which carries out important work in the community.
The Strictly Come Dancing inspired event raised around £25,000 in its first year, followed by £80,000 last year. Organisers are now aiming to build on those totals at the next event.
