An accessible circus performance for children with additional needs is returning to Bournemouth this weekend.
Circus Starr will bring its annual community event to The Hub at Talbot Heath School on Sunday 20 September, with a show created for children who have disabilities, additional learning needs or circumstances that make standard performances harder to attend.
The charity says the Bournemouth event is supported by local businesses and is designed to be relaxed, inclusive and sensory aware. Each event includes a British Sign Language interpreter, toned down lighting, lower sound levels and a setting where children can respond naturally.
This year’s show follows an under the sea theme, led by ringmistress Mariska Gandey with clown Edy and the Starr Squad. The performance includes circus skills such as juggling and BMX tricks.
Michelle Crossley, a Circus Starr trustee, said the team was “so excited to be back” with a new show. She added: “We would like to thank all of the businesses that help make our performance possible.”
