The traffic free event will include family activities, market stalls, live music, seasonal food and drink, fairground rides, street performers and a visit from Father Christmas, with the lights due to be switched on at five forty five in the afternoon.
A laser light display set to music will take place before the switch on, and local singer Jax Hall will perform festive songs afterwards for people who stay in the town centre.
Councillor Maggie Fidler, the Mayor of Christchurch, said the event "brings our community together", while Mandy Polkey, of Stir Events CIC, said the programme will include "plenty for children" as well.
Christchurch Town Council has continued funding the display and event for 2026, after councillors voted to do so, and organisers are seeking volunteers aged 16 and over to help on the day. The council says the day is intended to support local traders, performers and community groups, while giving residents and visitors a reason to spend time in Christchurch town centre.
