New business groups are being created in Bournemouth after the town’s chamber reached 250 members.

Bournemouth Chamber of Trade and Commerce will launch 6 groups covering Health and Wellbeing, Digital Growth, Power of Women, Arts in Business, the Polish Business Community and Trades, with members encouraged to organise their own events.

President Nigel Hedges said the groups would help members grow “networks within networks”, share knowledge and working practices, and collaborate with other businesses as the organisation continues to expand its membership.

The plans follow the formation of the Next Generation group earlier this year, which proved successful enough for its younger members to join the chamber’s board and help drive the organisation forward.

Hedges said the chamber’s youngest member is 16, while membership has now risen to 250 and existing networking events, breakfast meetings and sessions featuring speakers are attracting growing attendance.

The chamber is also considering bringing back its golf society and wants to strengthen its relationships with organisations elsewhere in Dorset and beyond, while continuing to provide members with advice and opportunities.
