Two boys have been banned from Bournemouth town centre after youths were seen on a roof.

Officers on patrol were alerted by members of the public to Westover Road on Sunday 11 October. Police said two boys, aged 14 and 15, were given section 35 dispersal notices, which prevent them from entering the town centre for 48 hours.

The pair were escorted home by officers, while a third boy, aged 14, was spoken to at the scene, and police seized a mobile phone and other items as part of an investigation that is continuing.

Inspector Matt Buller, of Bournemouth Police, said reports of urban exploring, trespass and criminal damage are taken “very seriously”, because climbing into empty buildings is dangerous and can cause serious injury.

He said police will consider all possible measures, including seizing mobile phones and other equipment where appropriate, and Dorset Police said it will continue working proactively to keep the area safe.

Anyone who sees urban exploring where someone may be in immediate danger is asked to call 999, while non emergency reports should be made to police through 101.
