A remembrance tribute for Bournemouth East has been planted in Parliament’s Constituency Garden of Remembrance.
Tom Hayes MP placed the tribute on behalf of the constituency after joining the Poppy Appeal at Castlepoint on Saturday, and it was brought from that local appeal before being added to the parliamentary garden for Bournemouth East.
The tribute represented The Rifles, which is Dorset’s county regiment, and it links a local remembrance event in Bournemouth with the garden in Parliament in central London, where constituency tributes are gathered from across the country.
Mr Hayes said the garden contains “hundreds of tributes” which remind Parliament of the service given by communities around the UK, and said MPs come together there to remember those who served.
He said the garden also helps Parliament to “honour all who keep Britain safe and free”, with Dorset’s county regiment among the organisations represented in the Westminster space for remembrance.
