A new national rough sleeping drive has been welcomed by Bournemouth MP Tom Hayes.
The Prime Minister has announced extra national backing to help people off the streets by Christmas, with support aimed at permanent homes, healthcare and addiction services for people experiencing long term rough sleeping.
Mr Hayes has raised homelessness in Parliament and called for housing, health and other public support to be joined up for people without a safe place to stay.
He said his five years leading homelessness services before becoming an MP showed him that every statistic involved a person. He added: "No one should have to spend Christmas in a doorway or on a pavement."
Mr Hayes said Bournemouth already has organisations working with people experiencing homelessness, including groups he has met locally. He said they "know what works locally" and should have the "resources and freedom to deliver it".
