A £15,000 post-production prize is being introduced at this year’s Bournemouth International Film Festival.
The festival has partnered with independent post-production company DISAUTHORITY, which will provide the package to a winning short filmmaker, with support available for areas including colour grading, audio mixing, visual effects, mastering and creating distributor-ready versions.
Rather than providing a fixed selection of services, the winner will be able to decide how the £15,000 package is used, allowing the support to be directed towards the areas where their film needs it most.
A winning feature filmmaker will also receive a distributor deliverables package and be invited to meet the DISAUTHORITY team to discuss the possibility of a post-production equity arrangement for their next project.
Festival Director Steve McCarten said BIFF wanted to provide filmmakers with more than recognition, adding that access to professional facilities and support can help them make the "next step".
He said the partnership would put "professional resources into a filmmaker’s hands" which might otherwise be beyond their budget.
Bournemouth International Film Festival takes place on 9 and 10 October at Hilton Bournemouth and surrounding venues.
