A Bournemouth car wash must stop jet washing after noise control breaches, BCP Council says.

An enforcement notice has been issued to Boscombe Service Station on Palmerston Road, after Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole Council said it had not followed noise limitation conditions linked to its planning permission.

The permission was granted on March 19, 2026, for a new valeting canopy and other upgrades, with all jet washing required to take place inside an approved enclosed compound at the site.

Conditions also required acoustic roller shutters to stay fully closed during use, with an isolation switch stopping equipment when shutters are open, and roof vent acoustic cowls maintained and working at all times.

The council says those measures are intended to limit noise for nearby residents, but have been breached, and the station must "cease all jet washing operations" until repairs are complete.

The notice, issued on August 20, says the roller shutter doors and associated isolation switch must be repaired and fully operational, with compliance required within 28 days of the date it was issued.
