Blue Badge applications across Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole will change from 13 October.
BCP Council is bringing the application process into its own digital system after a review, replacing the current externally hosted platform with a service designed to make applications clearer and reduce processing delays.
Applicants will be guided through questions that match their circumstances, helping them see what information and evidence they need to provide, and they will be able to upload documents securely and track progress online.
The new system will also send automated reminders when more information is needed, while reduced manual administration should help staff focus on assessing applications rather than routine processing work.
Councillor Andy Martin, portfolio holder for customer, communications and culture, said the change would make it easier for residents to access the scheme, with a “clearer” process that would “improve transparency”.
A two week pause in new applications will begin on 27 September while the switch takes place, although applications already in progress will continue to be assessed and staff will work across both systems for several months.
