Residents in Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole are being asked to check their voter registration details.
The annual canvass is being used to keep the register current before voters choose 76 BCP councillors across 33 wards in May 2027, and to find details that need updating.
Matt Pitcher, Head of Electoral Services at BCP Council, said the canvass is about making sure records for every address are “accurate and up to date” before local elections.
He added that residents should “keep an eye out for important updates”, and said people should “simply follow the instructions sent to you” when they receive council messages.
Recent home movers are being asked to pay particular attention, after Electoral Commission research found 92% of people in Great Britain who have lived at their home for 16 years are registered, compared with 36% who have lived somewhere for less than a year.
