Recent changes to community pharmacy services across BCP are set to be reviewed next week.
BCP Council’s Health and Wellbeing Board will consider updates to the local Pharmaceutical Needs Assessment this Monday, which records community pharmacy provision and the role high street chemists play in primary care and local health.
The board has a statutory duty under NHS Regulations 2013 to keep the assessment under review, so it remains an “accurate reflection of services” across Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole locally.
A report says there have been several pharmacy openings, relocations, ownership changes and amendments to service details since the Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole and Dorset assessment for 2025 to 2028 was published.
Officers say the changes do not amount to a “significant change” in overall pharmaceutical availability, which means a full revision of the main assessment is not being recommended at this stage.
The report says publishing the assessment helps the board meet national rules, keep the process transparent and give healthcare partners accurate information about pharmacy services that local residents can access.
