More accommodation and support is planned for people sleeping rough across Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole.
BCP Council has secured £4,745,732 in Government funding to expand help for people experiencing rough sleeping, including supported housing and longer term homes for those moving towards recovery and independence.
The council says its homelessness work has supported more than 1,500 households, recorded a 72% prevention success rate, helped reduce rough sleeping by 18% and kept repeat homelessness below 5%.
Councillor Kieron Wilson, Cabinet Member for Housing and Regulatory Services, said: "Nobody should have to sleep rough." He said the work must focus on preventing homelessness early and helping people build "stable, independent futures".
The funding will support the Homelessness and Rough Sleeping Strategy 2026 to 2031, alongside tailored help so people can maintain accommodation, improve health and wellbeing, access employment and use recovery services.
The council will now work with Homelessness Partnership members to design support around local needs and develop practical ways to prevent rough sleeping in BCP.
