Poole entrepreneur Dan Ware has joined Arts University Bournemouth to help students turn ideas into businesses.
The new Entrepreneur in Residence, who started on 1 September, will work with students and academics on intellectual property protection, pitching and commercialisation, while creating stronger links between AUB and businesses across Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole.
Ware has more than 20 years of experience in financial technology, artificial intelligence and consumer marketing, having previously grown BCP based DJS Limited from 3 employees to a workforce of more than 100.
He also founded The Spark, which brings local business owners, innovators and civic leaders together, and said his aim at AUB was to offer students an experienced commercial perspective while helping them protect their ideas and long term prospects.
Vice Chancellor and CEO Lisa Mann said the appointment would support AUB’s plans for “empowering our creative community”, while expanding enterprise and practice based research across the university.
Ware said BCP was “an incredible place to live, work, and build a business”, adding that he wants to retain graduate talent and economic activity in Dorset rather than see skills move to London or other major cities.
